A song about life going on in a backyard I turned up to one afternoon

I met her in the afternoon she had an old wet blanket in her hands
I watched her wrestle it on the line but it weighed too much it hit the ground
so he helped her double it over
it didn't need any pegs to keep it on there
and we stood there for a moment
in a constant state of becoming

She told me about her family and that her mother died recently
The dogs around us played tug of war with a knotted rope they growled and played
I sighed and said I'm sorry
death is always closer than we'd like to know
she said ya that could be true
it lets you know its near when you're feeling blue sometimes

She had freckles on her face they danced as she moved in the western sun
We talked some more but I can't recall what was even said at all
Then she wandered through the garden and back into her house
and I looked up to the window and saw her smiling free

Every day is like a pot of gold it glows sparkles and never dies
and every breath is a privelidge bow it out carefully
and choose those words wisely for a thought is just a thought you don't say so
An expression is oh so powerful but we'll never know what anyone is thinking

Hi,Ive been writing n singing songs since I was 16 yrs old.
I have travelled around, met lots of colourful characters and seen many a beautiful day.
I grew up across from the Coral sea in Kingscliff ,north NSW.
It was there I learnt how to surf, fish, play drums and a few guitar chords and write songs.
